Welcome to Florence. Over the coming days, Hotel Palazzo Guadagni will be your Florentine home as we begin this journey together. After checking in, you will settle into your room, where a selection of Florentine treats and thoughtful touches awaits.

Our first gathering will take place on the hotel's beautiful Loggia terrace for drinks and introductions hosted by the family behind Hotel Palazzo Guadagni. There, you will receive an overview of the days ahead, before we head out together for dinner paired with Tuscan wines at a beloved institution of Santo Spirito, just steps from the hotel.

Monday, November 9

Florence's Oltrarno is home to numerous artisan workshops and antique dealers, many of whom settled near Palazzo Pitti after the Medici court moved to the palace in 1550. We will begin the day by meeting some of these artisans in their ateliers, where you will have the opportunity to discover and experience Florence's rich tradition of craftsmanship.

After a relaxed lunch on the Loggia overlooking the city and its surrounding hills, we will visit with our guide the former showroom of Stefano Bardini, one of Italy's most influential art dealers. Filled with treasures from Florence's medieval and Renaissance past, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of collectors and antiquarians. The rest of the day will be yours to explore the city.

Tuesday, November 10

Few cities have been shaped as profoundly by a handful of families as Florence. Bankers, merchants, rulers, collectors, and patrons, they transformed a small Tuscan republic into one of Europe's great cultural capitals.

Our day begins at Palazzo Medici Riccardi, the first residence of the Medici family, where we will discover with the story and secrets of the dynasty that helped shape Florence and the Renaissance with our guide. From there, we will continue on foot through San Lorenzo historic neighborhood, where many of the family's important architectural and artistic legacies remain, stopping along the way for lunch at one of the neighborhood's longstanding local institutions.

In the afternoon, we will step into the refined world of the Martelli family with a visit to Casa Martelli, one of Florence's most remarkable historic residences. Preserved much as it was in the 18th century and rarely open to visitors, the house offers an intimate glimpse into the life of a noble Florentine family with close ties to the Medici.

After a day in the footsteps of some of Florence's leading families, you will have time to relax or explore the city at your own pace before we reconvene in the evening at Cantinetta Antinori. Over dinner, we will discover the story of another great Florentine dynasty, whose legacy has been intertwined with Tuscany's cultural and winemaking history for more than six centuries.

Wednesday, November 11

In Tuscany, November is the season of the olive harvest and the production of new olive oil olio nuovo, offering a wonderful opportunity to discover one of the region's oldest traditions. We will head to a privately-owned fifteenth century castle in the Florentine countryside, set among century-old olive trees and vineyards, where we will spend the day with the owners learning about the production of extra-virgin olive oil and Vino Santo.

We will enjoy a typical Tuscan lunch drizzled with freshly-pressed olive oil in the property's hand-painted veranda. The day will conclude with a visit to the property's historic cellars before returning to Florence, where the evening will be yours to enjoy at your leisure.

Thursday, November 12

Beyond its masterpieces and monuments, Florence is a city best experienced through its daily rituals: a morning at the market, a home-cooked lunch with friends, and an evening spent in a beautiful home.

Our last day together will begin with a walk to Sant'Ambrogio Market, where locals gather to shop for fresh seasonal produce and exchange the latest news. There, we will discover Florentine culinary traditions and select ingredients for a special cooking class at the Teatro del Sale, a Florentine institution founded by Fabio Picchi, the visionary behind Cibrèo. Reserved exclusively for us, the restaurant will be our set for this experience in which we will prepare some of Cibrèo's signature dishes alongside its chef. After enjoying the lunch we have prepared together, the afternoon will be yours to explore some museum you might still want to see or shop for souvenirs from your trip.

In the early evening, we will gather once again for a final and unforgettable experience. Guests will be welcomed into one of Florence's most important private residences, rarely accessible to visitors, for a visit led by its owners. As the day draws to a close, we will enjoy an aperitivo in the palace private garden before sitting down together in the family monumental dining room for a private farewell dinner, celebrating the friendships, stories, and discoveries shared throughout our Florentine escape.

Friday, November 13

Our tour will be coming to an end as you check out of Hotel Palazzo Guadagni. Until next time.

In good company:
Each experience is limited to 12 people to keep the experience intimate but still have the pleasure of sharing the experience with a small group of like-minded travelers. Members of the Florentine family running the hotel will accompany your throughout the journey, joined by art historians and friends depending on activities.
